WE NEED YOU NOVEMBER 3RD, 2026.
To everyone of you who signed the petition and showed you care and every neighbor or friend who wanted to be in that room but couldn't: thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
On October 13, we filled the Lone Tree Civic Center. Neighbors stood up and spoke with courage and love for this place. But even with all our concerns that night, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the Hillcamp Trail road (SB25-0014), with some conditions, and it now moves on to City Council on November 3, 2026.
While this recommendation is a setback, here is what we saw that night: a room full of people who care. People who showed up on a Tuesday evening for a hillside, a trail, the
peace, the elk, hawks, deer and the view we all share. There is still much that we can do to preserve the Bluffs and we need your help to do it! The city council is the final vote so we need you there to lend your voice to fight to protect the Bluffs.
WHERE IS THIS?
The road would extend Cabela Drive south, cross the East West Regional Trail, and climb onto the bluffs west of I-25. See the City's official project page: cityoflonetree.com/project/final-plat-hillcamp-trail-filing-no-1
THIS IS OUR TRAIL TODAY

And this is the developer's own vision, shown at the October 13 Planning Commission hearing under the title "Trail Experience."

A road cut through the bluff. Retaining walls on both sides. And our public regional trail lifted onto a steel bridge above the traffic.
Is this the trail experience we want?
KEEP WRITING. YOUR "WHY" MATTERS.
Every letter becomes part of the official record. If you already wrote, write again, this time to City Council directly:
Tell them who you are and why this place matters to you. Not sure where to start? Here are a few questions to spark your own words:
• Why do you walk, run, hike, bike or ride horses on this trail? Would you still come here during years of construction, and after, with a road, traffic and homes where there is quiet today?
• What kind of wildlife have you seen on the East West Regional Trail?
• Have you experienced “the wind” up there? Have you thought about wildfires on a windy day? How would you, your family, or the people on the trail get out safely?
• Do you live below the bluffs, or know someone who does? How does it feel to know this hillside already experienced a landslide once, in 2024?
• Why did you choose this trail? What got you attracted to it?
• Would you feel at peace if this road were approved before every safety question was answered in writing?
Imagine a Council that walks in on November 3 having read thousands of our stories. That is how things change: not with anger, but with many voices, steady and clear. We don’t want the city to approve a project that allows a road to be built without being safe, without thinking about the risks to all of us who live next to or enjoy the Bluffs or one that hasn’t considered all of the options to preserve the bluffs without running a road through the heart of them.
You don't have to live next to the bluffs to have a voice. You just have to love them. And 13,225 (and counting) of us do. Share this with as many people as you can to help us stand strong.
We're still here. We're still standing. And we're just getting started. We will keep you posted about the exact time of the Nov 3rd meeting soon, plus some facts you need to know about the location of this proposed road.
